Hi, I'm Lionel Marshall, Assistant Vice President (IT) of Sales & Loan Origination at NewDay USA. I'd like to share with you the most impactful customer success experience I've had in the past year while serving veteran families.
A Veteran and Single Mother's Struggle
I had the opportunity to serve a veteran and single mother who was struggling with overwhelming outstanding credit card debt, personal loans she took out to pay for her mother's funeral, and her daughter's expenses just to get into college. She was at a point where she needed her 17-year-old daughter to help make ends meet in her mortgage payments.
Serving as a member of the military is no easy task, and unfortunately, situations like the one our veteran and single mother was going through are not uncommon. Military families often face unique challenges, such as time away from loved ones, frequent travel, and added financial burdens due to the costs of being far from home. Children may go weeks or months without seeing their parents, and the everyday tasks of running a household can become much more difficult when one or both parents are away on duty. Even just something like providing meals for children can become expensive when parents can’t always be there to provide a home-cooked meal, and children need to eat takeout. It's important that we recognize and support the sacrifices that our military families make every day.
